My Work.
CREATING is for me being part of "something" bigger than me, independent if I write, paint or create with different materials.
I call it the Creative Energy. When I come in touch with this energy , I know what I want to do, I know with which materials I want to work and I come into an inner and outer flow, which leads me into the creative process. I feel totally absorbed from this process and I experience calmness and peace in myself as well as a great sense of satisfaction and fulfilment. I am very much inspired to create through connecting with the beauty of nature, my joy of living, artworks from others and all kind of 'things' which I discover everywhere. I like to speak about my works more as creations than artworks because the word 'art' is very loaded with definitions, values and expectations, especially what you should do as an artist and what not. Being a free spirit, I don't want to limit myself. Some years ago I worked with common materials like safety pins, rubber, cheesecloth etc., which I loved to bring in another context as they usually are and where - in surprising ways - their, normally not seen, beauty can be discovered. I also loved to create new and unexplored spaces through cutting, gluing, pinning and piercing into the canvas. Soon after coming to New Zealand I started to create Healing Mandalas with oil crayons and did some amazing pieces. Apart from painting with oil crayons I used acrylics and ink as well, where my love for structures became visible. In another phase I was exploring all kind of combinations of 'white' and 'black' and was fascinated about light and shade at the same time. Since some years I have discovered to make collages and it is now my preferred medium. Every 'creation' has its own language and I am still learning to communicate with my artworks. I want to draw the viewer in a dialogue with my creations. For this process the viewer needs to be willing to "listen" to my creations and to look for the effects on her/him at the time of viewing. It means, the meaning is in the work. This process of creating is very uplifting and inspiring for me. |
